Reckoning Voice

Today is my birthday, and in honor of it, I am choosing to share words of affirmation. Even if it might further ostracize and estrange me from my own family.

  • I will use my voice and words: no longer appeasing my generational lineage of staying silent and keeping secrets about abuse and harm.

  • I will continue my decades-long desire of (and passion for) fighting against oppressive powers that build pedestals from the bodies of humanity.

  • I vow to continue allowing my bleeding and beating heart to cadence toward people that my own “Othering”-loving family consider “less-than”.

  • I promise to never again allow fear and bullying to dim the light that I have fought—since I was SEVEN YEARS OLD—to shine on the suffocating and paralyzing darkness.

  • I will remember, once again, that I was created to be a disrupter, a cyclebreaker, and a voice of truth amidst a straitjacket of lies.

  • I will hold close the memories of coming from the streets, physically fighting against injustice and abuse.

  • I will remember how easy it is to cut off flesh and blood if it means standing up for—and protecting— children and those that are struggling/suffering.

  • I will stay grounded in reality, rooted in truth, and cultivated by life-giving solutions against the harm and destruction of human beings.

  • I will not hesitate to expose abuse and exploitation of the Unconsented, even if (especially if) it is perpetuated by my own family members.

  • I will stand up—even if it means standing alone—for, and along with, those underpinned by power dynamics that seek to leech life, soul, passion, purpose, and the humanity of others.

For those that believe my bleeding heart is a disability: this blood pumps from a limitless supply.

To those that mistake my kindness—for the powerless and oppressed—as weakness: this blue flame burning in my eyes is a force of love that knows no bounds and will no longer be diminished and extinguished by you.

Welcome all, to my 49th day of birth 💙
